Ensure this is someone you respect and trust – check online reviews & meet in person.

2. ASSESS AND PREPARE YOUR HOME

Walk through your home with your realtor and note anything that needs updating, repairing, or decluttering. Your realtor will help you to prepare your home for professional photography, open houses and showings.

3. PRICE YOUR HOME PROPERLY

Pricing properly is key – overpricing will likely result in the property sitting on the market much longer than other properly-priced properties, and ultimately cost you money.

4. MARKETING

Your realtor will utilize all available marketing strategies including yard signs, open houses, social media, websites, networking, newsletters, and more.

5. SHOWINGS

Be ready for last minute showings of your home and keep your home tidy and organized.

6. REVIEW OFFER(S)

Have your realtor explain each offer’s terms, benefits, and potential pitfalls in detail. Your realtor will help you evaluate whether a counteroffer or any negotiations will be necessary.

7. NEGOTIATE TERMS

The most commonly countered terms are price, closing date, financing, and inspection contingencies.

8. REPAIRS

Make any repairs you agreed to in the purchase agreement.

9. PLAN YOUR MOVE

Arrange for a mover, pack up, cancel utilities, change your address and tie up loose ends. Edina Realty’s “updater” will be a great help!

10. CLOSING

Review and sign the closing documents. Bring any keys or garage door openers.
